Funny, especially when the joke’s on you!

Why don’t I feel sorry for our country’s gasoline addiction woes? Are you telling me you didn’t see this coming years ago? Oh, I must be one of those smug liberals who thinks they know it all. Ha! That’s a good one. Guess what? I get “sarcasm” too! Even when the joke’s on me, I don’t dismiss it and pretend there’s no place for such humor. The New Yorker cover featured quality art by accomplished illustrator Barry Blitt. The cover was great. Back in the day I art-directed hundreds of covers, illustrated dozens, sarcasm in many. Maybe most. You can see Barry’s work in the New York Times occasionally. I hope this overwhelms Blitt with more work.

I recently saw a mint-condition copy of this issue selling for $20 on eBay. Wanting to show my support for Blitt and the New Yorker I purchased a box set of cards and envelopes available at cartoonbank.com for about the price of the eBay issue. Cartoonbank is a New Yorker Magazine company which make their cartoons available in a variety of formats like prints and cards.
